Legal Question in DUI Law in California

I was convicted of my second DUI in October of 2008. After I was incarcerated I registered at a second offender program in Sacramento county where I live. I was dropped from my classes for being out of contact for 21 days. I will probably be incarcerated for violating my probation, but, whether or not I am incarcerated I wanted to transfer my entire program to Sonoma County, where I am from. I am being asked to leave my residence, and I am losing my job. I would find it tremendously easier to get back on my feet and finish my program in Sonoma County where I have a solid foundation of friends and family. What should I do?

Contact your parole officer or local parole and probation office and explain what is going on, and ask them for assistance to get back on the program. They can also tell you whether you are eligible to have your probation transferred to Sonoma County. It would also be a good idea to contact Sonoma County probation to see if the will accept you, and if so on what terms.

Keep a list of the people with whom you speak, date and a summary of each conversation. You want to make every effort to make it easy for the probation department to grant your request, so the more homework you do, the better your chances.
