Legal Question in DUI Law in California

Drinking

Recently I was at a party and had been there for 10 minutes, taken one sip of a Smirnoff and the cops showed up. I got busted for possession of alch and was honest with the cop in telling him i had taken the sip. Possession of alch is an infraction now in California and i showed up in court as asked. The charge that he gave me was $100 fine and a year of restricted license. Considering that Im applying for an emt job because i just graduated school for it i am going to need to drive ambulances and what not. My bottom line question is, is there any sort of class that i can take or that is offered, community service, or increased fine that i can pay to not have the work/school restriction on my license? Also keep in mind that i was not driving, was not near a car, and had no intention of driving when caught. Thank you

Re: Drinking

Yes there is still a chance you can get the restrictions on your license lifted. If certain conditions are met, the Court has the authority to lift the restriction on your license for work. Contact an experienced criminal law attorney to help you get yourself back before the Court to request that the restricted license be modified to allow you to drive to and from work and in the course of your employment.

Re: Drinking

The case is over, and you lost.

Next time:

1. Don't. Talk. To. Cops. View the YouTube video with that title.

2. Don't plead guilty. Take a lawyer with you to court, or at least talk to one before you do something impulsive.
