Legal Question in DUI Law in California
Driving with Suspended License
My restricted license was on its way, I submitted all necessary paperwork. But I got caught driving without one. I didnt do anything wrong to get pulled over, there just happened to be a checkpoint. What are the consequences and what can I do at this point?

Re: Driving with Suspended License
The big question will be whether or not your license was restricted at the time or not. If it shows with the DMV that it was restricted at the time and you were driving within the confines of your restriction, you should be fine - at worst, it sounds like you're guilty of driving without a license in your possession.
If it wasn't yet processed and the DMV records show that your license was suspended at the time, then you're looking at a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended license.
What you're looking at depends on the reason for the suspension (if it was for DUI, you're most likely looking at some mandatory jail time), as well as whether or not you're on probation for something as well.
Because of the DMV timing issue, you probably want to talk to a criminal defense attorney in your area to discuss further.
