Legal Question in DUI Law in California

I got a DUI today and the police officer apologized for it but it was his job and made several comments that if I fight the case he wont show up to court. If this happends what does it mean?

Re: DUI help

If he doesn't show up for court, it's your lucky day. But don't count on it. I've sat in many a courtroom where the officer showed up at the last minute. You must assume you will need to fight the DUI in court; even if the court case is dropped, the DMV is going to suspend your license, and you must request a DMV hearing within 10 days. Lawyer can help.

Re: DUI help

It can mean something good, or it could be completely bogus. You can't count on the cop not showing up because he is required to show up when subpoenaed to be in court. If he doesn't, he can be arrested and brought to the court to testify. You need a lawyer to represent you, and if the cop is serious about not "showing up" then I can exploit his weakness in favor of the strength of your case. It's complex and can't be analyzed with so few facts. Feel free to contact me. I'd be happy to discuss it further with you. Good luck. Steve Mandell
