Legal Question in DUI Law in California

dui for 18yr old

My son was arrested twice for dui in 1 week. What are the possible penalties from a judge. He has no prior trouble with the law. Should we hire an attorney or will we be supplied a public defender. These are 2 seperate incendents will they be handled as one. Our son made a very big mistake having a drink and driving under age which makes it worse. We just don't know at this point if hiring a attorney will help him not do time.

Your son is subject to having his license suspended or revoked. He is also facing jail time and/or a treatment program. If you can't afford an attorney, he will be appointed a public defender. However, he should do what he can to retain a private attorney. The public defenders are good attorneys, but they are extremely busy.
