Legal Question in DUI Law in California
I have a friend who is on probation for GTA and he just got a DUI his first what can or will happen to him if he doesn't get legal help?

He definitely needs a lawyer. If he can't afford to hire one, the judge will appoint the public defender to represent him.
He needs to contact DMV to request a hearing within ten days of his arrest or his license will be suspended automatically. The Public Defender does not handle the DMV matters.
In addition to the fines, potential jail time, DUI classes and drivers license suspension for the DUI, it would be a violation of his probation. The judge could give him up to the maximum sentence for his auto theft case as well.
