Legal Question in DUI Law in California
License Suspension / Court date
I was charged with a DUI Nov 24. The officer kept my license. The temporary license issued states that it expires 30 days from the date issued. However, my court date isn't until Jan 24. What should I do? Also, everything that I have read states that my license will be suspended for 30 days, at which point it may be re-instated as restricted to driving to and from work. Is it possible to not have the 30 day suspension and only the restriction?

Re: License Suspension / Court date
You need to have an attorney request a DMV hearing if you want to save your license, you generally only have ten days to do so. The DMV may say today is already too late, although you can attempt to request the hearing yourself today. As far as court imposed restrictions, it will depend on how many previous DUI convictions you have in this state and other states.
