Legal Question in DUI Law in California

My son got an infraction ticket for 1 ounce of marijuana.

He paid it about 1 year ago. It now shows on his record as a open container in vehicle

Is this correct? Since he paid it already is there anything he can do to remove from record?

Paying a ticket means pleading guilty to the criminal charge you were arrested on [cited and released by ticket instead of being jailed and booked]. That conviction and arrest is on your permanent record.

If there is some error in what is recorded that can be corrected by proper motion to the court, with proof of the error.

Separately, he could apply for expungement once he qualifies at least a year after conviction.

If serious about hiring counsel to help in this, and if this is in SoCal courts, feel free to contact me.
