Legal Question in DUI Law in California

I was ticketed two weeks ago for driving on a suspended license for eight years. The whole ordeal makes no sense as when I moved from New Mexico to California in 2004 (dui in 2002) I recieved a license from the DMV. I believe the problem is stemming from the fact that my DUI coursework was not turned in, in New Mexico due to my DUI instructor recieving a DUI and going to jail (no kidding). I spent two weeks in jail and had to hire a lawyer as I was found in contempt of court. The lawyer was able to prove to the judge that I had completed the course, and my paperwork wasn't turned in due to the incarceration of my instructor. Everything even my probation was wiped clean.

Now things get even crazier....California issued the Suspension claiming its coming from New Mexico DMV. After contacting NM DMV they said Ca was full of it, and that I was cleared of everything in NM. California DMV will not tell me what I need to do to get my license, and they've basically given up. My last call they told me my best chance was to call the Governer's office. Which I did only to be reconnected to the DMV which once again gave me the same run around. This is truly a nightmare, I'm looking at losing my job, then losing my home, and finally my livelihood. Any help is appreciated thanks for your time.

Robert
