Legal Question in DUI Law in California

first time offender

Yes, I am a 46 year old female first time DUI offender. I go to court in California in 16 days to face the judge. What is the law and what should I expect. I was 3 times over the legal limit. Can I ask for payments made to the court for the fine. Can I ask for community services if he wants me to go to jail. Can I asked for license to drive to and from work and meetings. Bascially will I be able to talk. Thank you Janet

Re: first time offender

Do not appear before the judge alone. Hire an attorney with specific experience in DUI law and bring him or her with you to the hearing. Do not speak in court, do not utter one word to the judge or prosecuting attorney without permission from your attorney. Do not assume you will be found guilty if you have good representation. On the other hand, do not assume you won't get jail time if you go it alone.
