Legal Question in DUI Law in California

i told the police that i was driving when i wasn't

my friend was driving my car and fell asleep at the wheel and recked my car. i was asleep in the passanger seat and when i was awakened by the accident i told her not to worry and that i would tell the police that i was driving as the car is mine and so is the insurace.

the problem starts because i had a couple drinks earlier in the night, due to the fact that i was sleeping, i did not feel that that would be an issue as i would have slept it off in the event that they wanted to administed a sobriety test.

anyway, i got changed with dui and booked. when the seriousness of the situation sunk in, i tryied to use my phone call to alert the office as to what i had done and to tell him the truth.

i have not been able to contact him and i don't know what penalties i could face for telling him a lie.

No driving is a good defense. I know this whole thing can be bewildering and frightening. If you have questions, visit my website or contact me.
