Is it true that while you are on DUI probation for three years, you are not allowed to consume alcohol in a public setting while in the state of California?

False. You're not allowed to drive with a measurable amount of alcohol (.01%) . You can consume alcohol in public UNLESS your probation order strangely says otherwise or if you are in violation of open container laws.

Only if the specific terms of your probation prohibit consumption. Otherwise, you can consume alcohol, but you CANNOT drive with any alcohol in your system.
