Legal Question in Education Law in California

If I attend a meeting with my fellow employees & coordinator, may I record the meeting by placing a small recorder on the table? Recorder is placed in plain site for everyone to see. Also, other employees take notes with pen & paper. Purpose of recording is to make sure that I have all the facts for when I am told that I have not followed procedures, even though they have been followed. However, coordinator changes procedures by saying that what he said in the meeting is not what he meant.

Sure, if they will let you. It is only illegal to record conversations without consent of those being recorded. Consent can definitely be implied if they conduct the meeting with a recorder sitting right in front of them and they don't object.
