Legal Question in Education Law in California
I attended Maric College and graduated in March 2008, I went out looking for a job in my field of study (medical office specialist) and didn't anything. So I went back to maric college career service to see if they could help me,they took a copy of my resume uploaded to there computer and told me they would send out my resume to there contacts, after that never heard anything else from them in that time they changed there name from maric college to kaplen college. So I had went back over there to ask questions and to redo my resume at that time they told me they couldn't help me because I was a maric college grad and not a kaplen college grad. I was angry and went home to look over my contract and it states that "maric college will provide job search and career help for a lifetime" to me that sounds like a breach of contract because I can't get any help from the school I went to and now owe money that I do not have back to student loans. Is there anyway I could get legal help?

Yes, you do have a cause for action under a theory of breach of contract. When Maric was purchased by Kaplan, Kaplan took Maric's debts and contractual obligations along with Maric's assets. Send me some details about who you were dealing with, how much was spent on tuition, etc.
You'll need to decide what remedy you want. Monetary compensation for the service that was not provided? Or, an order for specific performance, requiring Maric/Kaplan to do the job search. Given the poor state of the economy, your contract with Maric/Kaplan likely does not guarantee that these search efforts will be successfully, netting you a job.
