burned by body shop
i paid 8000.00 up front to have my corvette repaired the shop owner striped the car and left town recently i found a location on him

1. The theft should have been reported to local law enforcement.
2. If you were to obtain a judgment in small claims for $5,000 or in another court for $8k or more, figure 3 months for A claims and a year of time for the otehr court.
3. I presume that the shop owner (prior) could care less about his credit, but you could always turn the matter over to a collection agency.
4. Outright theft would cary a 3 year time within which you could bring a law suit, if you exceed 3 years your rights will be forever lost.
5. Law enforcement is probably the most efficient method of going after him.
