fighting
my student got into a fight off school grounds 3 1/2 hours after school let out about 1 mile from grounds does the school have the right to suspend her against my wishes

Interesting question. Was this fight with another student at the school? Was there a history behind the dispute that related to activities on campus? Were the combatants involved in any off-campus, after-school activities? Was the student the instigator? Had the student been in fights before, posing a potential risk or danger to fellow students? Had the student been involved on campus with other fights, disputes? The answer depends on all of these factors. If there was no previous history on campus, if the other party was not a student on campus, etc., then the school shouldn't have suspended. Have you asked for a hearing? How long is the suspension?
