Legal Question in Education Law in California

lectures and naration

Thank you so much for this opportunity. I recently took a 7 day course for dental national boards and was given permission to record the lecture(audio). I was wondering if it would be legal for me to narrate the lecture and change the format it was presented to us in class and sell it to other students ?

Re: lectures and naration

It would most probably violate what is usually called a "commonlaw copyright." Although there is no formal designation of the lecture being a copyrighted item, you were not given any consent to tape for COMMERCIAL PURPOSES. You can be sued if you complete your proposed task.

Don't do it!
