Legal Question in Education Law in California

Resources for teachers

I am a special education teacher and a Califonria attorney. Are there any books/guides for special ed teachers that are written by lawyers to give an overview of special education law? Something that would be easier for me than researching the law myself. Because of my legal background, I am uneasy about relying on statements from other teacher and administrators on their ''analysis'' of special ed law.

The best source is LRP Publications. You can find them on the web. The books are pricey, but authoritative. Slightly less authoritative and much less expensive, are the IEP book from NOLO Press (about $25) or Protection and Advocacy, Inc.'s guide to special ed law for about $10. I have, however, found errors in both of these publications. Or, more accurately, I've found that these two publications don't tell you the whole story.
