Legal Question in Education Law in California
schools off loading children
Is there anything I can do, I bought a house in a good neighborhood specifically because of the school my child would attend. That school is overcrowded and the wait list is 3 years. My child has been off loaded to a different school in the district. It is a brand new school and not even close to being as good. It certainly is not equal to where he should be. Several of us parents are furious and getting nowhere with the school district. There are simply not enough schools for our children and they continue to open new schools, but are not forcing the children to switch to the new school that should be there home school? Aren't they to be held accountable for this? What about our kids who are now suffering and stuck in a bad school when there home school is an excellent one. Do they not have to be equal, can they just send us anywhere they wish in the district? When we question it we are told all the other schools are overcrowded so there is nothing they can do to help us. Thank you for your attention and any help in this matter. The state dept. of education basically said they would not help us, this matter was left up to school boards.
