Legal Question in Education Law in California
Sports Insurance
I attend a High School and I am active in sports. I recently went to a basketball tournament and was injured. I was sent to the hospital and needed ex rays. The bill was about $450, seeing as though I have no insurance. Under the Education Code 322220-24, it states that students must not play sports without insurance. Our Athletic Director and Vice Principal understood that I had no insurance, but continued to let me play. They never gave me information on the Myers/Stevens School Insurance, which it says they have on the consent form to play. I primarily need a letter stating that if they don't pay my hospital bill and get sports insurance for the school, I will continue to prosecute. Thank you.

Re: Sports Insurance
Try writing directly to the school board. It seems the administrators may have some liability here if they knew you had no insurance and played you anyway.
