Legal Question in Elder Law in California

A 82 yr. old man that has been a good friend for many years has offered me money to start up a business. this man is a very active and is in sound mind. his wife passes away from alheizmers last month. out of the wood works come his sons for the funeral, one son is mad that his dad gave money to us, the son is charging us with financilly elder abuse. we do have a contract that is signed with all parties and monthly payments are always sent.is there anything that can be done to us? we have done nothing wrong, this is just a business transaction we did with the father.

This is a complex question that would depend on the investor's mental status and how the deal was documented. There are strong presumptions that a person has capacity to dispose of his property as he sees fit which the son would have to overcome.
