Legal Question in Elder Law in California
estate law
Took care of a friend for 20 years. Always said that I was taken care of in the will. Friend had a stroke and the children who never came to see him showed up with an attorney while he was on his death bed. They said I was only left $10.000 (still not collected). How do I go about finding out if they changed his will at the last minute?

Re: estate law
If you received $10,000 from his estate, then you're a beneficiary. As a beneficiary, you're entitled to notice. Make sure the family knows your full name, address and phone number. Also, contact them to see if probate has been open. If yes, then go to the court and get a copy of the file.
