Legal Question in Elder Law in California
i live in ca with my boyfriend who is the father of my two boys. weve been together for 9 years. dan (boyfreind) is still married but has been separated from his wife who lives in washington for 10 years (separtated for 10 years but married for total of 22) when they separated dan left wa to come back home to ca and since the day they separated there has been no contact between the two of them at all. she has been supporting herself and he has done the same. a week ago she served him with papers requesting a divorce and also wants $1000/month in alimony. as it is dan makes enough to provide for us but that is just about all. he has medical problems that require monthly medication and with our other bills and our boys there is no way he will be able to pay any kind of money to her. can he fight this? if she is granted that we will surely not be able to pay rent or car payment . i dont know why after all this time she wants money. we know this should have been done years ago but it wasnt . we didnt have money to cover court fees. besides all that now we are faced with a big problem and if we have to travel all the way to washington for court . my head is just swimming with all this. what are the chances she will be granted alimony

Unfortunately this is not something a California lawyer can answer, as the law of Washington will govern the decisions in the case.
