Legal Question in Entertainment Law in California
Adapting a famous novel to film.
I want to write a film adaptation of an old but well-known novel. Do I need permission from anyone to write and pitch the script?

Unless it's so old that it's in the public domain, yes - you need to option the material - an entertainment attorney can assist you in doing so (or at least in determining whether the rights are available).
