Legal Question in Entertainment Law in California

A couple of months ago, I went into a business partnership with someone who claimed we would work together to sell a tv show based on his entertainment connections.

Well, since then, it has become obvious he is not who he says he is and is full of over exaggerated claims.

Without my permission, he states that he talked to one of his attorney friends to write up a letter of intent for $1200 and he wants me to pay half. I told him he never approached me about talking to an attorney and racking up legal fees. When I confronted him about it, he became nasty with me and has now gone after me personally and professionally to a mutual partner of ours.

How do I go about getting out of this contract?

What contract? Where did you get this contract? Did you read it before you signed it? Did you consult a lawyer before you signed it? How do you expect to get a valid answer from any attorney who hasn't actually read the contract?

A letter of Intent is basically a contract to enter into a contract - the way you have written this p is not in any way that we can tell if you are talking abot this letter as being "The Contract" or what?. It is making us guess about what you are talking about - the $1200 - some other agreement? Just rewrite more clearly - we can't read your mind - sorry
