entertainment contracts

Hello! I have an entertainment

contract that states a former talent

manager made ''initial efforts'' in

getting me an agent. This former

manager believes that any work I

have gotten with the new agent

(after I left the manager) I must pay

out a 15% commission. Do you know

what the phrase ''initial efforts''

encompasses?
