Legal Question in Entertainment Law in California

Infringement laws

I've written a pilot for a t.v. game show. It's based on a show that's airing in another country. I've made several changes and given it a different name. I've never done this before and I was woud like to know if I could have any legal problems if I proceed with this. Also, how can I avoid any legal issues if I choose to continue with this project. Yes, you will have legal problems unless you obtain the proper licenses from the producers of the foreign show.
