Legal Question in Entertainment Law in California
I want to make 'official' movie themed games. I know I need to get permission to do so, but who do I talk to. One game is based on a New Line Cinema movie. How do I get in touch with their licensing dept? Do I need an attorney first? Thank you, Richard

Contact the merchandising department at the studio or production company. If they don't have one, speak to an executive in Business Affairs. (usually lawyers).
You probably SHOULD have a lawyer ready to move on things if you find a receptive audience at the studio. You'll want to have your proposed offer terms ready to go before you speak to the movie folks.
I handle this kind of thing from time to time. Feel free to call me if you need further assistance.
