Legal Question in Entertainment Law in California

Music on Napster

My old band and I made a CD back in 2000 and most internet downloading sites have our music without permission. Such as Napster, Itunes, etc. You name it, it's out there.

Is there any chance of a lawsuit or monies owed to the band???

Please let me know ..... I would like to take action.

Thanks - Patrick

Re: Music on Napster

iTunes and napster don't do things without proper licenses, so SOMEBODY probably did license the songs to these services.

Look first to the record label for your royalties.

Then to the Publisher (if any)

Then to your band mates

If there wasn't a record label, and there's no music publishing company involved, then yes, you'll want to consult an attorney about suing.
