Music release forms
Hello. We need to secure the rights from independent musicians to use their songs in short surf and action sports video clips. The clips have not been created yet, so is there a form that gives me the right to use the songs at my discretion for a certain amount of time? Basically, something I can have the musicians sign that lets me do whatever I want with the songs for the next year or so. Thank you very much.

You need TWO licenses. One for the composition, and one for the recording. They're called SYNCRHONIZATION and MASTER USE licenses, respectively. Most ordinary forms will require some tweaking to give you the scope of discretion over the use that you require.
