Legal Question in Entertainment Law in California

i got offered to go to los angeles regarding my music to sit down and have a meeting with this guy who was the associate producer of a movie and in this movie there's this girl who is in it and who is famous singer in a well known girl group called danity kane the problem i know he was apart of this movie but the problem im having is i dont really know this guys personal background information and how do i know if i will be safe and im afraid when i go to los angeles what if he wants me to sign something i dont have an attorney and i dont have legal help and i cant afford legal help at the time what should i do . I know this could be a good thing but i want to be safe and the person already told me they dont want my money and never will and anybody who does i should never work with them but i really would like to make sure that this is an ok thing still and i will be safe %100 .
