Options Agreements - extensions and payment

We need points and authorities, or at least where to look for case law to support our position. We are in pro per in a lawsuit. A studio extended their option agreement on our script but failed to tender the moneies due us for the extention because they say we were in breech of the original contract (which we were not). We are saying they don't have the rights because they did not pay us monies due. Who is correct, and what facts of law can we use to support our case?

Who is correct will depend upon a reading of the contract and the allegations that they are making. Generally, however, if you breach an option agreement they would be entitled to monetary damages for the breach. It would generally not entitle them to extend the option unilaterally.
