Legal Question in Entertainment Law in California

If a person gives an attorney files from a previous attorney (deceased) can said attorney use information from those files to benefit another client without my permission? What if it is detrimental to me? (This concerns release of recorded material and who has authority to release)

Question lacks facts and uses "If" a lot. I can only speculate... for instance when you say "benefit another client without my permission" are you the first client?
