Sports Logo

I'm interested in starting a clothing line were I want to use a sports names & colors (ex. Lakers, Raiders, The Kings). What are the steps I need to take in order to make this happen and not get sued in the long run. Please advice asap.

Hello,

You wouldn't be able to use actual sports team's names because those are trademarks owned by the teams but you may be able to use similar colors. The first step would be to apply for a trademark.

You'd have to license the team names, and logos from the teams and/or the league. You should start by contacting the League's licensing department... they'll have answers for you.
