Legal Question in Family Law in California

In 2001 I had my child stay with my mother for one week, when I went to get her she had used old temporary guardianship papers and denied me getting her. Due to being laid off I lost my home and was homeless, during this time my mother filed for child support and cash aid that I was unaware of. I have now been told by courts that I have a $35,000 child support bill and they will not assist me in what forms I need to file to fix this. I need help with this situation.
