Legal Question in Family Law in California

I have 50/50 custody of my four kids with my ex husband. I'm working part time which I can get health insurance for me and my kids but it's too expensive through work. My ex husband is not working but on unemployment and working under the table. He has the kids on medical and receiving food stamps for them and himself. Neither one of us pay child support because of the even custody. Can I request them to be taken off aid and medical so I can get them on health families insurance something that I could afford. The child support told me they didn't care if I lived or not that I had to provide them with insurance because my work offered it. It's almost $400 dollars a month what can I do?

Yes you could request it from the court although I don't know if they had jurisdiction. The courts generally cannot tell a person they cannot be on welfare.
