Legal Question in Family Law in California

1/2 Dental Bill

Santa Clara County-I am ordered to pay 1/2 of all medical bills for my child. My ex has carried insurance through his employer for the last six years. He is still with the same employer (a dental practice) My ex is in a realtionship with his dentist outside of work. My ex presented me with a bill (768.00) that doesn't have any insurance coverage and the rate appears to be excessive. My questions are as follows:

*Can I insist on a 2nd opinion for rates and dental work that needs to be done?

*Is there a conflict of interest in having the bill come from my ex's significant other?

*Is fraud involved if there is indeed insurance cover yet my ex is trying to collect 1/2 from me?

Thanks...

Re: 1/2 Dental Bill

Most orders state that you pay half of all "reasonable" expenses. Write a letter stating that you believe that the insurance covers all reasonable work and that you will need a second opinion if this dentist is proposing work which isn't covered. Offer the option of allowing him to pay for the work himself.
