Legal Question in Family Law in California

12 hour notice for emergency ex parte hearing

I recieved a phone call for an ''emergency ex parte hearing'' TOMORROW at 8:15am. I am in Nevada and my ex is in California. I was told I can CALL for the judge to ask questions if necessary. Is it really necessary for me to be there? or can I just wait for the court hearing?

You should be there to submit a response. Worst case scenario is that you don't show up, the judge gives temporary orders, and sets a hearing date for some time in the future.
