Legal Question in Family Law in California

50/50 legal custody disputes

I have 50/50 legal custody of my 7 year old daughter. Her father lives out of the area and has visitation every other weekend. My new husband and I have been working with our medical provider along counseling with my daughter for behavioral issues with her that she does not exibit at her father's house to the extreme she does at home. Our medical provider has prescribed medication that my ex-husband does not want me to put her on and states since he has 50% legal custody, I must have his approval. Can I put her on the medically prescribed medication without her father's approval?

Since you have joint custody, he is correct. If you cannot agree you may need to have the issue decided by a judge. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
