Legal Question in Family Law in California

i need to know by 1 pm today

i have a copy of my birth cerificate but its not the original and I have to have the original or a certified copy by 1pm.can i take the copy i have to a noterrepublic to have it cerified??????????? very important!!!!!!!!!!

No. You didn't mention what state you were born in, but, if it's California, to my knowledge, you can only get a copy of a certified birth certificate from the County Recorder's Office in the county you were born. A notary cannot certify the authenticity of the copy of the seal on your photocopy; only the authenticity of your signature. About the only thing you can try here is call the Recorder's Office first thing and see if they would fax a copy to whoever needs it so soon, along with something on their letterhead saying this is an authentic fax and they are mailing a hard copy.

Can't imagine why you absolutely have to have it by 1pm, but that's about the only idea I have. If you are close enough to the county recorders' office and can get there first thing this am, and then to where you need it to be, all by 1pm, you might be able to pull that off. Otherwise, all you can do is try to sweet talk somebody in the recorder's office to go a little above and beyond the call of duty for you. Problem is, there is a small fee for a certified copy and I don't know whether they take credit cards these days or not if you're too far away to do it in person.
