Legal Question in Family Law in California

17 and running away

I am a 17 year old female living with an abusive family. I am considering running away and I read in Texas if a person is 17 and runs away as long as the address is left with the police and the parents it will not be treated as a missing persons and cannot be treated as a missing persons or runaway. Is this the same in California?

Re: 17 and running away

If you are just taking off from home and will be living on the street or where ever you can find a place, you are taking a huge risk. There are other options, talk to a school counselor, pastor or other person. If you are able to support yourself and have a place to go you can petition the court for an order that you are emancipated.
