Legal Question in Family Law in California
I am 56. My significant other is 71. We are planning to move in together. Right now I'm receiving temporary spousal support. I have been unemployed on and off for three years. I am planning to ask for an increase in support. Will co-habitation affect my spousal support?

Yes. Cohabitation automatically creates a presumption that spousal support should be reduced or eliminated.

Yes,there can be dramatic financial consequences. The need for your support may be compromised by this living arrangement. Please meet with an experienced family law attorney to assess your legal options.
