Legal Question in Family Law in California

I have an 8 year old grandson who is my sons son. My son has never been a part of his life. I have seen my grandson only a few times in his life, once when he was an infant and a day before this last Christmas. The only reason I have only seen him a few times is because I never knew for the most part where he lived. Ive also have sent his mother money for him a few times and a present for him. She, in turn, has sent pictures of him to me in the past. After Christmas she cut off all communication with me. What I am asking is what rights do I have legally to be able to visit/communicate with my grandson. What forms and legal proceedings do I need to take if I have that right? I do not have a criminal history. I just want to be able to know my grandson and for him to know me.

Unfortunately grandparents have no rights in California. Your only option would be if your son exercised his paternal visitation rights on your behalf.
