Legal Question in Family Law in California

My 10 year old has been living with her father since this past June. Her paternal grandparents decided that her father wasn't taking care of her properly. They were granted temp. guardianship. I wasn't aware of anything until served with the paperwork. There is no legal custody. False allegations are made in the paper work of drug use amongst other made up stories about me. Please I am a disabled person on a fixed income. I cannot afford to hire a lawyer. Could you suggest what and how shall I do? When I go to court what should I expect to happen? Thanks

If the court feels that it is in the child's best interest to remain in her paternal grandparents care, the placement may be upheld. However, placement with a biological parent is always the preferred parenting plan. To refute the false allegations, you either resolve these issues in court ordered mediation or have a trial. I really urge you to contact your local county bar association to see if there are attorneys that could assist you.
