Legal Question in Family Law in California

17 year old needs help!

while living at home Social Services were called by the school reporting child abuse, Social Services interviewed the 16 year old boy (at the time) and left. The boy lied because he did not want to be put into the ''system'' His parents then kicked him out of the house, he managed to hold down three jobs and keep a B average in school while living with a friend for a month. After a month on his own the parents sent the police to where he was living to bring him back. My questions are 1. What are the rights of this boy? 2.Is it possible to put my name in the system so that if the boy were to call social services they would call me to provide him a home?

This is a difficult situation. He may be able to file a petition for emanciaption. The form is relatively simple and he should be able to fill out the form by himself. He will have to be able to prove that he is able to support himself. The closer he is to 18 the easier it will be to get the emancipation order signed by a judge.

I am not aware of any way in which you can request ahead of time to be the foster parent of a particular child.
