Legal Question in Family Law in California

16 year living with us

My son has a friend wo lives in the next city from us. It's hard for him to get to school daily much less participate in any extra activities the school has being the lives out of town. He wants to play football so we thought it would be okay for him to stay at our house for football season continue to attend the high school. His mother is fine with this arrangement. He will go home on the weekends. What do I need to do to ''Cover'' ourselves legally from any lawsuit, in the event of an injury, accident or even death will in our care. I don't want any problem and will not follow through with this if it's not a ''good idea'' and puts us at risk of a law suit, in the event something unfortunate or tragic should happen. Does the mother need to write something up and have it Notarized stated in the even when the child is wit us under any circumstances we are not held responsible for any injury to hte child? Let me know. Please contact me soon. Home#661-256-8670

Re: 16 year living with us

Your son's friend is a visitor in your home. If he slips and falls, then you are liable. I doubt there is anything you could do to totally eliminate liability. You might want to contact your homeowners insurance carrier to review your policy under the circumstances.
