Legal Question in Family Law in California
My 17 year old nephew resides in the State of Tennessee and I reside in California. His mother wants to give me short term guardianship for him to come and live here with me in California and complete his senior year in high school. Can his mother fill out the California short term guardianship form in Tennessee and have her signiture notorized and then send the form to me here in California and I then have my signiture notorized here in California (instead of one of us having to travel and both of our signitures being notorized at the same time)?

There is no "short term guardianship" form in California. If you're referring to a temporary guardianship, that is only combined with a full guardianship petition. It is not a half-measure. Keep in mind, a guardianship is only granted by a judge. No one "gives" anyone a guardianship. You may want to suggest that his mother consult with an attorney. It may only be a parental consent letter that will be needed.
