Legal Question in Family Law in California
I have a 1-year old son from a relationship that ended before the child was born. I was never married to the father, but he signed a declaration of paternity and has been paying child support for 2 months now. I am now in a new relationship with a man who acts as my son's father -- my son calls him daddy, and he supports him as his own. We live together as a family but are not married.
We are considering having another child together and possibly getting married at some time in the future. I would like to know how this would affect my son -- would his biological father still be financially responsible for him?

Unless you do a step-parent adoption, the biological father would retain full responsibility financially, AND full parental rights should he assert them, including custodial time.
