Legal Question in Family Law in California
3 years ago I was granted a move-away with the kids from California to Canada, last month my ex moved to Connecticut and wants the visit there but she did not modify the current order and Connecticut is more expensive. Do I have to send the kids there?

You should try and negotiate something with her. e.g. she makes up the difference in airfare between California and Connecticut, or visitation is less frequent but longer or, reduced in frequency enough so you are not out of pocket or she gets on a plane and visits the children in Canada. If you can negotiate something, then you can write it up as a stipulation and file it with the California court. Mother is entitled to her custodial time - depending on the order you may not have to pay for her to exercise it if she is in California. So final answer - you should send the kids - but you do not have to pay any more than what the court order provides. e.g. payment of an airfare from Canada to California. or payment of airfare from Canada to where ever - it depends on what the order says.
