Legal Question in Family Law in California
About 30 years ago, I married a good friend and realized I made a mistake so asked my attorney from my previous divorce to annul it. I don't remember singing any papers, etc. Now this man I married has gotten married again and tried to sign up for her health benefits and somehow he says we are still married and wants to know what city I had the marriage annuled in. My attorney has passed away. How do I find out if this was annuled or not? How did he find out? I've kept my first husband's last name for 30 years and never remarried again.
He and I got married in Lake Tahoe NV. I think he married his new wife in CA.
Please answer as soon as possible, this guy is going to call me soon to talk about this. I am shocked. Thank you.

You can find out two ways:
Go to the court where divorce might have been filed and look up the records. The jurisdiction will be with the court where you or both the parties lived at the time of filing (not where you were married).
If you don't want to do it, can not do it, don't know how to do it, too busy to do it, etc., look up under investigations. There are companies who can help you find public record for a fee.
What county did you file in? The court file must be reviewed. Contact me directly this office can retrieve the file and opine upon the status of your marriage.
